General Questions

What is Wishr?

Wishr is a modern wishlist app that helps you create, share, and manage wishlists for any occasion. Whether it's birthdays, weddings, holidays, or just everyday wishes, Wishr makes gift-giving easier and more organized.

Is Wishr free?

Yes! Wishr is completely free to use. We offer all core features at no cost, including unlimited wishlists, wishes, and sharing.

What platforms does Wishr support?

Wishr is available on:

  • iOS: iPhone and iPad (iOS 14.0 or later)
  • Android: Phones and tablets (Android 8.0 or later)
  • Web: Any modern browser at app.wishrapp.net

All platforms sync automatically, so you can access your wishlists anywhere!

Do I need an account?

Yes, you need an account to use Wishr. This allows us to:

  • Sync your wishlists across all devices
  • Keep your data secure
  • Enable sharing and collaboration features
  • Remember your claimed wishes

You can sign up using Google or Apple Sign-In for quick and secure access.

Can I use Wishr without an internet connection?

Wishr requires an internet connection to sync data and load images. However, previously loaded wishlists can be viewed offline. Any changes made offline will sync when you reconnect.

Account & Privacy

How do I create an account?

  1. Download the Wishr app or visit app.wishrapp.net
  2. Tap "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Apple"
  3. Authorize the connection
  4. Complete your profile

How do I change my profile information?

  1. Go to Settings or tap your profile picture
  2. Select Edit Profile
  3. Update your name, photo, or other details
  4. Save changes

Can I delete my account?

Yes. To delete your account and all associated data:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll to Account
  3. Tap Delete Account
  4. Confirm the deletion

Note: This action is permanent and cannot be undone. All your wishlists, wishes, and claims will be permanently deleted.

Is my data secure?

Absolutely. We take security seriously:

  • All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • We never share or sell your personal information
  • Private wishlists are only accessible to you
  • You control who can view your shared lists
  • We comply with GDPR and other privacy regulations

Wishlists

How many wishlists can I create?

You can create unlimited wishlists! Organize them by occasion, recipient, time of year, or any way that works for you.

What's the difference between Private, Public, and Shared lists?

  • Private: Only you can see this list. Great for personal shopping lists or keeping track of ideas.
  • Public: Anyone with the link can view the list. Perfect for sharing with large groups or posting on social media.
  • Shared: You control exactly who can view the list by inviting specific people via email or link.

Can I change a list from Private to Public (or vice versa)?

Yes! You can change the visibility of any list at any time:

  1. Open the wishlist
  2. Tap the settings/menu icon
  3. Select Visibility
  4. Choose Private, Public, or Shared
  5. Save changes

How do I delete a wishlist?

  1. Open the wishlist
  2. Tap the settings/menu icon
  3. Scroll down and tap Delete Wishlist
  4. Confirm the deletion

Warning: Deleted wishlists cannot be recovered.

Can others edit my wishlist?

Only if you invite them as collaborators. Collaborators can add, edit, and remove wishes. Regular viewers can only see and claim wishes.

To add collaborators:

  1. Open wishlist settings
  2. Tap Invite Collaborators
  3. Share the collaboration link

Wishes

How do I add a wish?

  1. Open a wishlist
  2. Tap the + or Add Wish button
  3. Fill in the details (at minimum, a title)
  4. Optionally add description, price, link, image
  5. Save

Quick tip: Paste a product URL and Wishr will automatically extract details!

Can I add multiple product links to one wish?

Yes! Use the "Alternative Options" feature:

  1. Edit your wish
  2. Scroll to Alternative Options
  3. Add links to similar products
  4. Gift-givers can choose which option works best

Why isn't my product link working?

If automatic extraction fails:

  • Check that the URL is valid and publicly accessible
  • Some websites block automated access
  • You can manually enter the details instead
  • Try copying from a different product page on the same site

How do I reorder wishes in my list?

  1. Open the wishlist
  2. Tap and hold on a wish
  3. Drag it to the desired position
  4. Release to drop

Alternatively, you can sort wishes by:

  • Price (low to high, high to low)
  • Priority
  • Date added
  • Name (A-Z, Z-A)

Can I add the same wish to multiple lists?

Not currently. However, you can:

  • Duplicate a wish by editing and saving as new
  • Add alternative links to one wish instead

Sharing & Claiming

How do I share my wishlist?

  1. Open the wishlist
  2. Tap the Share button
  3. Choose your sharing method:
    • Copy link to clipboard
    • Share via messaging apps
    • Email the link
    • Show QR code

What happens when someone claims a wish?

When a wish is claimed:

  • It's marked as "claimed" for you (the list owner)
  • The person who claimed it can see their claim
  • Everyone else sees the wish as still available (to prevent spoiling surprises!)
  • You know someone's getting it, but not who (unless they tell you)

Can I unclaim a wish?

Yes! If you're the one who claimed it:

  1. Go to My Claims in your profile
  2. Find the wish
  3. Tap Unclaim

The wish becomes available again for others.

Can multiple people claim the same wish?

No. Once someone claims a wish, it appears as still available to others but cannot actually be claimed again. This prevents duplicate gifts.

Someone claimed my wish, but I already bought it. What do I do?

  1. Open the wishlist
  2. Find the wish
  3. Mark it as "Purchased" or remove it from the list
  4. The claimer will see that it's no longer needed

Consider adding a note to your wishlists asking people to check with you before buying!

Troubleshooting

The app won't load / I see a blank screen

Try these steps:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Force close the app and reopen it
  3. Update to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play
  4. Clear app cache (Settings → Storage → Clear Cache)
  5. Restart your device
  6. If still not working, contact support

My wishlists aren't syncing across devices

Ensure that:

  • You're signed in with the same account on all devices
  • You have an active internet connection
  • The app is updated to the latest version
  • Try manually refreshing by pulling down on the list

If issues persist, sign out and sign back in.

I can't claim a wish

This might happen if:

  • Someone else already claimed it (appears available but isn't)
  • The list owner removed it
  • You've lost internet connection
  • The wishlist is private and you don't have access

Try refreshing the list or checking back later.

Images aren't loading

If images won't load:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Some product images may have been removed from the source website
  • Try re-adding the image from the product link
  • Upload a custom image instead

I'm not receiving email notifications

Check that:

  • Notifications are enabled in app settings
  • Your email address is correct in your profile
  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Email notifications may be delayed during high traffic

The app crashes when I try to [specific action]

Please report this to us! We want to fix it quickly:

  1. Go to SettingsHelp & Feedback
  2. Tap Report a Bug
  3. Describe what you were doing when it crashed
  4. Include your device type and OS version
  5. Submit the report

I accidentally deleted a wishlist. Can I recover it?

Unfortunately, deleted wishlists cannot be recovered. They are permanently removed from our servers for privacy and security reasons.

Tip: Before deleting, consider making it private instead of deleting it.

Features & Functionality

Can I import wishlists from other apps?

Not currently, but this feature is on our roadmap! For now, you'll need to manually recreate your wishlists in Wishr.

Does Wishr have a browser extension?

Not yet, but it's planned! In the meantime, you can:

  • Use the web app at app.wishrapp.net
  • Copy/paste product URLs directly into the app
  • Use the mobile share sheet on iOS/Android

Can I export my wishlist?

You can share a link to your wishlist, but direct export (e.g., to PDF or Excel) is not currently available. This feature is under consideration for future releases.

How does the AI gift recommendation work?

Our AI analyzes:

  • The recipient's existing wishes
  • Occasion type
  • Age, interests, and preferences you provide
  • Current trends and popular items

It then suggests personalized gift ideas. You can add these suggestions directly to your wishlist.

Note: AI recommendations require an internet connection and may not be available in all regions.

Can I set a budget for my wishlist?

Not directly in the app, but you can:

  • Add a note to your wishlist description mentioning your budget
  • Sort wishes by price to help gift-givers choose
  • Use priority levels to indicate must-haves vs. nice-to-haves
